purchasing groceries

Since 2008 I was a full-time working mom but in the last five to six years I worked as a house executive/mom's taxi. Now that I am home I shop more oftern and go through the shelves slower and look at all new items and check pricesa and price increases! I am one of the mom's who just refuse to buy a product if they raise the price above what I am prepared to pay!
It has been for while now that I felt the need to write about these consumer issues I experience- at last I decided to create a blog to put down my feelings: I think the consumer should have more bodies to protect them against this growing threat( I am sure others will agree) that we have.
The wrappings around the chocolates we purchase look so huge it looks as if the poor chocolates get completely lost in them. The smallest Bare-one once upon a time was enough to really give you a energy boost for a tiring event. Soon it is however only going to of Bar-one on the tip of the tongue taste and the mouth full of heavenly chocolaty experience will merely be a memory of the past!
It is the same with all other chocolates- they get thinner and thinner and smaller.
The other day when I purchased chicken thighs at a factory shop I thought  "Wow" this is really big and healthy looking chicken thighs but once it was thawed and ready to cook only two thirds of the thigh was left and the rest was a watery substance in the plastic bag.
I then realized they added water to the weight to make you pay more. I was furious but that could be expected from a factory shop imported chicken brand.
What was totally unexpected however and made me furious was when I found in the supermarket closest to home that they had a mince meat special- beautifully wrapped it nearly looked like a woolies product  and such a good price- wow R49 /kg but O dear- only closer inspection it was 64% meat and 32% water!!! They expect me to pay for water!!! What do they think of us- housewifes- do they think we are totally dumn! I think I was once fooled- I did take a packed home and when I cooked the meat nearly half of it dissappeared! Ha-ha- They are not going to fool me again! I 'll keep a close eye on these opportunistic merchandisers!

The other thing I really also have to mention on this topic of grocery shopping is the size of the trolleys! It is just unbelievable that the grocery stores still keep purchasing these huge trolleys in the hope that people will fill them. I refuse to leave my little trolley and basket in the shop and take a large trolly if I have three or four bags. I make those bags fit in the little baskets and walk to my car otherwise they will never learn!

It was great letting my words flow and I feel more relieved now- thanks for reading! My first language is Afrikaans so excuse the mistakes but I want as many people as possible to read and understand this!
